Shay “Loser” Smith
It all started in 1983, when my mom and dad handed down to me their Canon AE-1. It was a craft that quickly grabbed my interest. Over the next few years, I began to hone my skills and tried to find a way to blend my love of photography with my other love - music, especially live concerts. I would find ways to sneak in my camera (with zoom lens and film) into shows such as Ozzy, Anthrax, Metallica and many others. I was wanting to capture amazing shots like Neil Zlozower and Mark Weiss, my photography idols. In 1989, I added doing interviews with bands along with photographing them. For most of the 90’s and early 2000’s, I found it harder to pursue the music aspect of my photography and took up landscape photography along the California coast. I did eventually find my way back to the music side of photography in 2010, and officially launched SALSAMAN PHOTOGRAPHY.
Art Silva
Art is the owner and president of The Art Silva Foundation, along with THE ARTOURAGE, a Live entertainment and event promotions company. He is also a very talented musician. The founder of LEATHER SERPENT and Guitarist for GREEN JELLO, along with many other projects. With his talent and drive, he has been a huge asset for the music-related section of SALSAMAN PHOTOGRAPHY.
Torch Adorabolical
Torch has always had a love for music and has been involved with the music scene since 2004. In 2014, she was a founding Maiden for the Tucson Maidens Of Metal and a member for 4+ years. The Tucson Maidens Of Metal promote bands, shows, do fundraising events for bands and/or charities, along with much more to help the music scene. During this time, Shay recruited her to join Salsaman Photography, where she assists with interviews and reviews. Along with working for Salsaman Photography, she is currently working on putting together a new group, AZ Diamond Squad. So keep an eye out for them in the near future.
Stephanie Green
With roots in the mid-90s East Coast, Hardcore scene, Steph has been active in metal and hardcore for 3 decades. Having supported numerous touring bands through photo, media, and merch design, Steph combines her love of music with her passion for supporting local music scenes. As an Arizona transplant, she joined the crew to continue her creative pursuits, focusing on up-and-coming deathcore bands.
Brooklyn
Brooklyn is another that has always had a love and passion for music and the music scene. She was also part of the Tucson Maidens of Metal that has been involved in the music scene one way or another for many years. After seeing her love for the scene and amazing personality, we knew we had to add her to our team. Since joining Salsaman Photography / The Artourage, she has interviewed many people. John 5 and Hail Sagan are just a couple of them, with many more to follow in the future.
Regena
Regena has so much passion and love for the music scene, especially the local scenes. She has been involved in the music scene for many years, always going above and beyond to support it. She works at Decibel of Reign Booking & Entertainment Llc., ProMotion, along with promoting and assisting us here at Salsaman Photography.
Ashlynn Zavala
Ashlynn is the newest member of the ‘Into The Pit…” crew for Salsaman Photography. She is also a newcomer to this side of the music scene/industry. Up to this point, her only involvement in the music world has been supporting bands, attending live shows, and doing her best to hit those high notes while singing Hayley Williams in her room, all while trying to demolish all the snacks in her sight in 0.1 secs (she will admit to this). In all seriousness, she has a friendly face, a kind spirit with positive vibes, and is a real go-getter. When I asked her about her thoughts on music, here is what she had to say, “My love for music can't be explained any other way but how it takes me away from my reality and it never fails me. The way music consumes me is a whole other reality, a whole other side of what I can create in my own mind and space. Music is what fuels me and I can never get enough of it. Don't forget It's a short life but live it as much as you can and rock on!” Very well put Ashlynn and welcome to the crew!
Kristi Black
The Godmother/ Founder of the Tucson Maidens Of Metal. She has been a huge asset to Salsaman Photography over the years. She has contributed in so many ways, whether it be connections, interviews, etc….she has been an amazing friend and asset to us here.
